Mental Health Specialist
Welcome to Pondering Therapies
My name is Nicole Ponder, and I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and Counsellor based in Brandon, Suffolk. I support adults and young people who may be experiencing anxiety, trauma, low mood, stress, or life challenges that feel overwhelming to face alone.
I hold a Master of Science in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Counselling and have experience working within the NHS as well as private practice. Through my work, I have supported individuals with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety disorders, trauma, panic, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.
My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to the individual. I believe that everyone’s experiences are unique, and therapy should provide a safe and supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and respected. Together we can explore the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck, while developing practical tools to help you move forward.
I primarily work using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is an evidence-based approach that helps people understand the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical responses. CBT can be particularly effective in helping individuals learn new ways of responding to difficult situations and reducing the impact of anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Alongside CBT, I also draw on my training in psychodynamic counselling, which explores how past experiences and relationships may influence the way we think, feel, and relate to others in the present. Combining these approaches allows us to both understand the deeper roots of difficulties and develop practical strategies for change.
At Pondering Therapies, I aim to provide a warm, non-judgmental environment where you can explore whatever is on your mind at your own pace. Therapy is not about being told what to do; it is about working together to understand your experiences and helping you build the confidence, awareness, and tools needed to create meaningful change in your life.
I offer both in-person sessions in Brandon and online sessions, providing flexibility to suit your needs.
I support clients experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including:
• Anxiety and excessive worry
• Panic attacks and health anxiety
• Trauma and post-traumatic stress
• Depression and low mood
• Stress and burnout
• Low self-esteem and self-criticism
• Relationship and interpersonal difficulties
• Life transitions and personal challenges
I also offer specialist support for Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD) and other vestibular difficulties. I help clients understand and reduce the fear around symptoms such as dizziness and imbalance, supporting the nervous system to settle and rebuild confidence using CBT.
More about me:
Alongside my work as a therapist, I also value creativity as a way of processing emotions and maintaining balance. Painting has become an important outlet for me, allowing space to reflect and regulate after holding the emotional weight of therapeutic work. Some of my artwork is also available to view and purchase through this website.
If you'd like, you are welcome to get in touch to arrange an initial consultation where we can discuss what you are looking for from therapy and whether we would be a good fit to work together.
